Customer Segment
A group of buyers with shared characteristics, problems, and willingness to pay.
What it is
Customers grouped by attributes (size, industry, role, behavior) that predict shared buying patterns.
Common mistake
Treating one customer as the entire segment. Segments are sample sizes, not individual buyers.
Healthy pattern
Most companies have 3-5 real segments at any one time. Beyond 5 = no real segmentation, the categories blur.
